Floor coatings are used for many purposes in commercial facilities.   Whether retail, warehouse, production or service related, floor coatings can provide:

  •        A decorative finish
  •        A cleanable finish
  •        A protective barrier against chemical attack
  •        A protective film against abuse and surface deterioration
  •        A seal against leakage or seepage of water

Stronghold Floors has released a new eBook to assist property owners, facilities managers and others concerned with the look, performance and maintenance of their commercial facility’s concrete floors.

This new eBook is broken into 3 main sections; each is described below.

Evaluating Commercial Floor Coatings Criteria

This section discusses many of the critical factors to evaluate when considering a floor coating system. Factors include:

  • commercial-floor-coatings-criteriaSurface Condition
  • Maintainability
  • Texture
  • Chemical Resistance
  • Scratch Resistance
  • UV Resistance
  • Aesthetics

These criteria all need to play a part in the evaluation and selection process.   The proper coating system can provide many years of desirable usage. Improper selection often results in unsatisfactory performance or even coatings failure.

Types of Commercial Floor Coatings

This section discusses many of the most common epoxy (or other polymer) coating systems used in commercial installations.   It includes the types of common thin-mil, high-build and broadcast systems used for most decorative and protective coatings.   Also included are coatings used in secondary containment.

Selecting a Coating System by Application

This section features an easy to use chart to select the appropriate types of commercial coating systems.  Included are common areas of a commercial facility, such as offices, lobbies, restrooms and production.   Also included are specific commercial sectors such as animal care, automotive service and manufacturing.
